A Sunday afternoon at Heathersedge

The Four Shires Bloodhounds met with us 02.10.11 and so we decided to give Torro and Buffy a run out with them. Buffy has hunted before but for Torro it was her first time.  Both girls behaved very well and we had a great few hours out with the hunt

A catch up!

Its been a while since we have blogged.  CHAPS champs came and went in a flurry of shampoo! We decided to take 2 lorry loads of horses - Merrie and Gertie, Ecki, Torro and Buffy. None of them disgraced us and we can back with a host of rosettes and sashes.

Ecki won both his Sport horse classes and championships on Friday and Saturday

Torro passed her mare grading with flying colours and was overall champion mare

Buffy did 2 dressage tests and was well placed in both

Merrie won her mare class and Gertie was 2nd (by 1 mark!) in her foal class

Many thanks must go to John Cutts for all his help and all our friends who made 'Camp Heathersedge' such a great place to spend time that weekend

Heathersedge Forget Me Not

Not to be outdone by her big brother, Fidget has been out and about seeing the sights.  With the help of John Cutts and Richi Grace we took Fidget to Beaver Hall.  She was a real Pro and loaded and travelled well and was very well behaved in her class, which she won.

BEF Futurity 2011

We took Ecki along to Southview in Cheshire to be assessed as a potential Dressage horse. Richi Grace kindly helped on the day and suffered the heat and the waiting around.  Ecki was presented to the vet first of all and received a perfect 10! He was then assessed and awarded a higher first permium score of 8.96, just short ot the 9.0 needed to be Elite.  We bought a few photos of him taken by Kevin Sparrow.

Gt Yorkshire Show 2011

This year we took just one horse to GYS, Ecki. we decided to do the coloured class and entered the hunter youngstock class as something extra to do with him and also meant we could show him in the fabulous main ring at Harrogate.  We came 7th in the coloured class in a very large class which we were pleased with as the ring was tiny and Ecki didn't go his best. Laurie was keen to leave it there but we decided to get up and do the hunter class. We are so glad we did! Ecki loved being in the open space of the main ring and floated round. he was initially pulled in 2nd which we were delighted with but after the final walk round was moved up to first place. The looks of shock and horror on some faces that a 'paint horse' could win a hunter class at GYS was one I will remember!

Heathersedge Glamour Girl

25.06.11 Tessy foaled a lovely coloured filly. Full sister to Fairytale

We also took some photos of the other foals as the sun was shining

a few more upto date photos

We have taken a few photos of the foals when the sun was shingin one morning a couple of weeks ago. They are both growing and Fly is catching up with Gertie a bit!

We also took Ecki to Midland Counties Show for a day out. He was 4th in the coloureds and 3rd in the sport horse class. We are delighted with him, his manners are exceptional and we cannot wait to get him out under saddle.

Royal Windsor Horse Show 2011

We took Toronto's Muza and Heathersedge Eurodizney down to Windsor for teh CHAPS coloured inhand classes.  Windsor is one of our favourite shows with big classes and some fantastic horses there.

Ecki was first in and came 3rd in a very strong youngstock class and Torro won her open Non Native class so we were delighted with them both. Many thanks must go to John Cutts who handled them both and saved Laurie a lot of running!

Goodbye and Good Luck

Heathersedge Eye Candy, Dixie Chick and Silver have all gone to their new homes. We wish Suzanne, Megan and Sarah all the best and look forward to keeping up with their news and results

Glitter Bug

Heathersedge Hattrick foaled a coloured filly 4th May, Heathersedge Glitter Bug by Sir Shutterfly.  Glitter Bug (Fly) spent the first few days of her life being nursed 24/7 by the vets and nurses at Hird and Partners as she had NI - she is now home and full of life, something we thought we would never see.

A busy few days

Here at Heathersedge we had a new arrival on Thursday afternoon, only a week late mind you! Merrie has finally given birth to a coloured filly, who is a half sister to Buffy, by Don Ricoss.   We have also seen work start on our school. The diggers have been here and we are now waiting for our menage to take shape

26th February 2011

Just back from a Hannah lesson (Hannah Esberger – Shepherd) with Buffy OMG had most of the lesson with no stirrups and trying not to bounce around too much!

Buffy went fantastic and I think even Kerrie enjoyed herself…. Laughing at me I could hear it in my headpiece!

21st February 2011

Disappointing news – we are not taking Buffy to Equitana in Germany. After lots of planning and building excitement of being asked to take Buffy to this amazing show, a new ruling bought into effect from December 31st 2010 means under German rules no horses can compete with clipped muzzles or ears.

I had just clipped Buffy so no chance of enough hair re growth in two weeks. Anyone taking horses to compete in Germany – don’t make this mistake or you will get turned home!

12th February 2011

Welcome to the news page for www.heathersedge.co.uk

A great afternoon at the Northern Racing School gallops with Buffy and Francy.

A few circuits completed on the 5 furlong all weather round gallop, not looking ready for Cheltenham but a fun afternoon.

Francy thought he would buck and squeal at every opportunity and both horses ready for bed when we got home – as were both Kerrie and I!!
